You need to go into options, click Emulation and click RMPS (Recordable Media Physical Signature). This sounds like the problem I had, and I don't remember where I found the answer or what the answer was for MiniCD but I can tell you the answer for Alcohol 120. Uninstalled/reinstalled and even restarted the machine, same response, flicker flicker. That the game isn't asking for a CD means it's detecting the (mini)CD just fine, wherever it is. It will even switch between physical CD and MiniCD without issue. Diablo II will use the MiniCD in the W: drive just fine. I have two DVD drives (F: and G:) and two Virtual drives (V: and W:).
